Meet Brit. That’s if you haven’t met her already, of course. Quite possibly the biggest fan of The Cambridge Satchel Co., with at least 7 of our bags to her name, Brit has been our top ambassador for many, many years, carrying her bags from photoshoot to photoshoot, from country to country, from her life in London to the world of social media.
Known for her unique, hard-to-pinpoint but ever-timeless style, her art, her incredible photography skills and for being unapologetically herself, it’s easy to see why Brit has built herself a loyal community as a creative.
In this series, ‘By Brit’, we’ll be keeping up with Brit on her adventures, learning about her favourite places, how her style adapts to where she is, and, of course, what she carries with her in her bag!
Starting with a recent trip to Florence, Italy for Pitti Immagine Uomo, the world’s largest menswear trade show in June 2023, Brit tells us all about a city that has captured her heart.
‘Because I used to be an archaeologist, I love immersing myself in history - and that's what Florence is... it's historical, it's infused with so many people's lifetimes. I absolutely love exploring it, the old signs, the buildings, the recipes passed down for generations and served in a Florentine family-owned restaurant, the culture... It's all so special’.
For this trip, Brit carried The Isla in Oxblood - a little round bag with a single magnetic closure.
‘Beyond the vintage aesthetic, which I think is classic and timeless - I love how structured The Isla is (in fact, almost all of The Cambridge Satchel Co.’s bags) - it fits so much more than you'd think’.

‘I really enjoy wearing timeless pieces like this because it will always be in style, it's not a trend-driven piece that is going to be out of fashion by next season, it has longevity to its design and I respect and admire that’.
Petite and compact, The Isla is most suited to being a day bag. For Brit, the bag acts well as a lightweight carrier of essentials on a busy day of photography. ‘I'm a handbag chronic over-packer so I really have to reel myself in when I pack for a day. I mostly carry my sunglasses, a small film camera, SPF 50 (I have Irish in my genes) and my lipstick’.

What brings Brit back to Florence each year? ‘Every time i go back to Florence, I love it more and more. The way you can interact with a city differently every time you visit - no visit is ever the same. I take such joy in wearing different outfits depending on where I am and where I am travelling - I enjoy interacting with each place creatively by tailoring my outfits to a place and because I do often have such a timeless style, I find The Cambridge Satchel Co.’s bags the perfect companion’.
--Always on the move, Brit has exciting plans for her travels this month. Stay tuned for our August Journal to see where she’s headed!
